Leroi Moore accident - LeRoi Moore died, a founding member of the Dave Matthews Band, Dave Matthews Band Saxophonist has died at the age of 46, his publicist has said. The Dave Matthews sax player died after suffering complications from injuries sustained in an atv accident in June on his Virginia farm. Leroi Moore suffered serious injuries in the ATV accident on June 30 outside the band’s home base of Charlottesville, Virginia, including a punctured lung and broken ribs. Moore returned to the hospital last month due to complications.

It is reported that the band is scheduled to perform on Tuesday night as planned at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Béla Fleck and the Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin has been filling in for Moore since his accident, according to the dave matthews band members Web site, and posted the following statement on its Web site Tuesday night: “We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.”

Many poeple have stated that going on with the show on Tuesday night after leroi moore dies, shows that they don’t care, but I believe that it is a case where Leroi would have wanted the show to go on. The band went on with its show Tuesday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where lead singer Dave Matthews acknowledged Moore’s death to the crowd after the first song. Dave Matthews was spotted crying outside of his Los Angeles hotel with the news of the LeRoi Moore death.

Leroi Moor was a jazz musician in Charlottesville Virginia, when he joined Dave Matthews - DMB in early 1991. The Dave Matthews Band released its first album, Remember Two Things, on its own Bama Rags label late in 1993. Leroi Moore dead at 46.
