Around 3pm on Sunday, In Point Marion, Pennsylvania , an 85 year old woman named Leda Smith walked in on an intruder in her home. The 17 year old burglar didn’t see her, as Leda walked past him, grabbed her 22 caliber revolver and pointed it at him. Leda then made the burglar call 911, saying “Dial 911 and don’t attempt to throw the phone at me, or do anything bad or i’ll just shoot you,”. Then she had him lay face down until the police showed up. After she forced the teen to dial 911, she had him hand her the phone and explained what was going on. She realized something was wrong Sunday when she came home from church and found the front door open.

“I said ‘What are you doing in my house?’ He just kept saying he didn’t do it,” Smith said.

“I just walked right on past him to the bedroom and got my gun,” said Leda Smith.

The boy will be charged with attempted burglary and related offenses in juvenile court, Trooper Christian Lieberum said. He was not identified because of his age.

“It was exciting,” Smith said. “I just hope I broke up the (burglary) ring because they have been hitting a lot of places around here.” When police arrived, they took the teen into custody. Charges have been filed against the boy and an alleged accomplice.
